THE WRIST

How does injure happen?

The wrist is formed of eight carpal bones connected to the forearm and the metacarpus. The intricate structure of joints and tendons allows all kinds of nimble movements, yet this also means that many types of injuries can result. Repeated movements or heavy loading can easily cause flexor tendons inflammation, pressure on the carpal tunnel's central nerve can result in carpal tunnel syndrome. Sudden extertion of strength often sprains wrist tendons and cause wrist fractures, radius fractures and wrist sprains. Because of the fatigue of exercise or over-activity, the wrist can suffer neuralgia and tendonities, such as in de Quervain's diseases and carpal tunnel syndrome , causing pain, numbness in the band.
